ARTIST STATEMENT
Of Material Importance is a mixed media art series that focuses on the ever-changing human landscape, marked by the impermanence of existence. These artworks reflect the vulnerability of our memories, exploring how they are influenced by the passage of time, the erosion of experience, and the nature of our recollections. Through layers of textures, colors, and materials, the artist reveals the fragility that makes our memories both precious and precarious.
Within each piece of art, Clark revisits some of her instrumental life experiences of love and loss, joy and sorrow, that span the time from her childhood to motherhood. This work reflects the complexities of navigating grief whilst embracing all that life offers as we each face our own mortality.
